Worship Ministries

Acolytes serve at the altar in various roles during a service. They range in age from 7 to 80+ and serve as crucifers (carry the cross), torch-bearers (carry candles), and thurifers (carry the incense pot) to help make our worship experience complete. They also offer assistance to the bishops, priests, and deacons who lead the service.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God from the Old and New Testaments and lead the Prayers of the People.

Our ushers play a vital role in welcoming people to our services and special occasions. In addition to handing out the service bulletins, the ushers offer a smile and warm welcome to members and visitors alike. Our ushers also help find seats, access our resources for the differently-abled, and fulfill other needs for those attending services and other events at Resurrection.

People who assist the celebrant in the distribution of communion by administering the wine or the bread.  This is a ministry licensed by the bishop.  Those interested in serving as Eucharistic Ministers are invited to make their desire known to the rector who train them and apply for a license from the bishop.

Members of the Altar Guild share the duties associated with caring for the linens, vestments, vessels and other “stuff” that are an integral part of our worship. From polishing silver and ironing altar-cloths, they enjoy a fellowship with other members who share a love for keeping God’s house in good order.
