Interested in joining the Episcopal Church? At Church of the Resurrection, people become members either by baptism, confirmation, reception or transfer from another Episcopal Church. You do not need to be a member to attend our services or to receive communion – all are welcome in our service, and at God’s table.
Baptism
Holy Baptism is the sacrament by which celebrates God’s adoption of us as God’s children. By it, we become members of Christ’s body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble – we are truly “marked as Christ’s own forever”. While Holy Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, on the Day of Pentecost, on All Saints’ Day or the Sunday after, or on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord, Baptism is also possible at other times, as well, with conversation with the Rector. Baptism in the Episcopal Church is always during a regular service, so that the entire community can affirm, recognize and pledge their support to the newly baptized.
Confirmation
In the course of their Christian development, those baptized at an early age are expected to make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit, through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
Reception
When a person has already been confirmed in another Christian denomination, they are joyfully received into the fellowship of the Episcopal Church through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop..
