The Rev. Dr. Rebecca Bridges, Priest-in-Charge

Rev. Becky has lived most all her life in the South, growing up in Florida but with deep family ties in Georgia and Kentucky. She’s served Episcopal churches in College Station, Texas; Birmingham, Alabama; and most recently in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Before finding her spiritual home in the Episcopal church, she grew up Southern Baptist and worshipped in a couple of different Presbyterian denominations.

Before her midlife call to ordination as a priest, she served on the faculty of Stetson University in Florida for eleven years, where she was Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies. While at Stetson, she taught a wide variety of courses in communication, advised communication majors and directed senior thesis projects, served on university and college committees and in the Faculty Senate, and carried out research at the intersection of rhetorical criticism, public discourse, race and regional identity, and place and public memory.

She holds degrees in English from Stetson (BA) and Clemson (MA), as well as a Ph.D. in speech communication (Texas A&M) and M.Div. (Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest).

Rev. Becky has a particular interest in ministries related to Care of Creation (also known as environmental stewardship), having led Holy Hikes ministries in two of her past parishes. She also brings much experience in Christian discipleship and formation, with a great enthusiasm for leading small groups that explore Scripture, contemporary books, theology, and the arts, as well as other relevant topics.

Beyond her ministry here, she is a training facilitator for the Being With course, which is based out of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London. She enjoys putting this approach to Christian formation and community into the hands of clergy and lay leaders throughout the US, UK, Canada, and beyond (and enjoys all the interesting people she gets to meet from around the world as she does so).

Amy Lee, Parish Administrator

Amy Lee, a Roane County native who has lived in Nashville for about 20 years, is thrilled to have joined the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection as the Parish administrator. Amy holds a B.S. in Communication (Journalism/PR) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary. While pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry, she also teaches group fitness for a couple of local gyms and holds a personal training certification. When she is not working, teaching, or studying, she enjoys reading, cross-stitching, diamond painting, beading, and spending time with her family and friends.
